Duralast Jump Starter Manual
Posted By admin On 09.02.19Hi folks- I'm sorry if this is the wrong subreddit for this kind of thing. I've got a car that's been sitting in a garage with a dead battery for a few months, and so I bought a Duralast portable jump-starter to get it running again (and to keep around for battery emergencies in the future). So, I open this thing up and it looks like it might be used. The instructions have some wear, and the switch is in the 'ON' position which I thought was strange. I plug it in for it's initial (30 hour) charge. The plug feels a little loose but the battery indicator on the front comes to life. It says FL%, then it goes to 99%, and drops pretty rapidly to 35% or so.

Then it starts creeping up again, but it's totally erratic - up and down. It'll get to a certain percentage, then just sort of turn off. It'll turn on again by jiggling that loose plug. Right now it's just sitting at 60% and blinking at me, with no change for about 10 minutes. This has all been in the past 30 minutes or so. What the fuck is going on with this thing?

Should I just let it go through the whole 30 hours before worrying about it? Importantly: if it 'turns off' again should I jiggle it to make sure it's charging? This owners manual is completely useless. It feels like it's just a lemon that someone else already returned, but I thought I'd check you guys. Sorry again if this is the wrong subreddit:) EDIT: Down to 59%.

I am having the same problem others are. Fully charged it when I got it. Used it one tome in the first month, and rechargedetermined it.
Used it again, and it will not take a charge. Took it back and they gave me a new one. Full charged for 36 hrs. Two weeks later I tried to jump my wife's car the the low warning starting flashing. I tried to charge it, and it says full.
Took it back out and tried it again, and it says low, and the motor will not crank. I'm going to take it back again. This is a piece of $90.00 crap. I purchased a 'New/Old stock' Duralast 750 that was flashing FL as soon as I plugged it in--even though it was totally dead. I read somewhere where a guy had this issue and charged it for 48 hours and it ended up working fine after that. For me it took about a week. I charged it for 48 hours then took it off charge and it tested 88%, then immediately went to 87, 86, etc.
And then settled at about 68%. I plugged it back in and let it go for 4 days (mostly cuz I forgot about it and thought I might have wasted my money)--it was flashing FL the whole time I think. After unplugging it this time though it seems to be working perfectly--at least its been showing 99% when I press the Test button for the last 3 days.
